Resolved Question: I have a total of $10,000 worth of credit card debt. Should I pay them off or consolidate?

I recently started working with a debt consolidation agency. I haven't started making payments to them yet. Yesterday I received a letter in the mail from one of my credit card companies saying that they refuse to accept the proposal from the consolidation agency because they are a 'non-profit organization'. Why would they refuse to work with an agency because they're non-profit?

It sounds pretty stupid to me, because you'd think they'd just want to get their money no matter how it got to them. I mean, I can't afford to pay the monthly amount they requested... that's why I'm working with a consolidation agency! It's just doesn't add up. =o/

Resolved Question: Does anyone have any info on debt consolidation loans?

To make a long story short in exactly 1 year my husband and I went into $11,000 in credit card debt. I make every payment on time but sometimes can only make the min. payments and we have 6 credit cards. Does anyone have any info on debt consolidation loans? Or anything? Thanks

Resolved Question: I have a total of $10,000 worth of credit card debt. Should I pay them off or consolidate?

I have a total of $10,000 of credit card debt. I will be paying off one card with my income tax check next month(-$3000), so it will be down to $7,000. Hopefully that will also help my credit score. I also pay over the minimum balance each payment. I also have my "toy" that is worth around $11,000 ( I consider it an asset) if I was to ever need extra money I could sell it and pay off everything. I am worried about debt consolidation b/c I will no long have access to my credit cards ($4000 worth of credit I have available) in case of emergency. What should I do?
